Connect your base

Any RTK base that can send corrections over NTRIP works. Already have one? It takes a few minutes. Building your own from a GNSS module? Our base software does the rest.

An off-the-shelf base (any brand)

  1. Create an account — Get Started on the home page.
  2. Add a mountpoint — Setup → Base Stations (Mountpoints) → + Add Mountpoint: a name (e.g. SITE_NORTH) and a source username and password for your base. Leave it public (shared) and it earns you tokens and coins.
  3. Point the base at the caster — in its NTRIP server / caster output:
    Hostntrip.rtkonline.net
    Port2101
    Mountpointthe name from step 2
Username / passwordthe source username and password from step 2 (NTRIP 1 bases: the password only)
  4. Choose the messages — RTCM 3 MSM4 or MSM7 observations (GPS, Galileo, BeiDou; GLONASS optional) every second, the base position (1005 or 1006), the antenna (1033) and ephemeris.
  5. Give it a position — fixed coordinates or the receiver's survey-in. The network surveys its exact position within about a day either way.
  6. Check it — it appears online under Mountpoints and on the map. Once the network has surveyed it, a shared base earns 1 token a day.

Our base software (do it yourself)

Turn a GNSS module into a base, set up entirely from its own web page.

  1. Hardware — a Linux board (Raspberry Pi, OrangePi or similar; amd64, arm64 or armhf) or an ESP32, with a Unicore UM980 / UM982, Quectel LC29H (BS), Unicore UM626N or u-blox ZED-F9P (experimental), on USB or serial.
  2. Install — sign in and open Device firmware: the .deb package for Linux or the firmware for the ESP32, with step-by-step instructions.
  3. Set up the module — on the device's web page: Auto-detect, then Initial Setup — it sends the complete base configuration.
  4. Base position — enter fixed coordinates (a height from a survey sheet is converted with the geoid) or let it survey in.
  5. Stream to the caster — choose rtkonline.net and enter your mountpoint and source username and password (step 2 above). Needs a Limited or Full license.
All features of the base software
  • Auto-detect, Initial Setup, role switch and one-click factory reset.
  • Fixed coordinates or survey-in; the position goes out as RTCM 1005.
  • MSM7, MSM5 or MSM4 with ephemeris; live indicators show which RTCM messages arrive from the module.
  • Push to the rtkonline.net caster over NTRIP Limited/Full
  • Push to any NTRIP caster, or a plain TCP target Full
  • Serial / UART RTCM output to a radio or another device Full
  • RTCM and NMEA TCP listeners for local software Full
  • A local NTRIP caster on the device — rovers on your network connect directly Full
  • NTP time server from GNSS time Full
  • MQTT publishing of position, status and sensor data; INA219 power sensor for solar or battery sites.
  • Network and WiFi setup from the web page; BLE WiFi provisioning on the ESP32; updates from the web page.
  • Live sky plot, satellites per constellation, signal levels and message statistics.

Try it in the demo

The demo units run this software around the clock with a simulated GNSS module. Log in, look around, change things — the setup is restored automatically.
