Connect your rover

Any RTK rover, GNSS receiver or field controller with an NTRIP client works. Already have one? It takes a few minutes. Building your own from a GNSS module? Our rover software does the rest.

An off-the-shelf rover (any brand)

  1. Create an account — Get Started on the home page.
  2. Add a rover user — Setup → Rover Users → + Add Rover User: a username and password for this device (one per rover).
  3. Set up its NTRIP client:
    Hostntrip.rtkonline.net
    Port2101
MountpointNEAR — the nearest base, picked for you (or a base's own name from Mountpoints)
Username / passwordthe rover user from step 2
  4. Send your position — turn on “send position (GGA) to the caster”, so NEAR knows where you are. No GGA? The mobile app can send it instead.
  5. Coins — other people's bases cost 1 coin an hour: request coins in your Wallet. Your own shared bases are free with the tokens they earn.
  6. Work — connect, and the rover reaches RTK Fixed within seconds to a minute.

Our rover software (do it yourself)

The same software as the base, in rover mode, set up from its own web page.

  1. Hardware — a Linux board (amd64, arm64 or armhf) or an ESP32, with a UM980 / UM982, LC29H (DA, BA, CA or EA), UM626N or ZED-F9P (experimental).
  2. Install — sign in and open Device firmware for the package and the instructions.
  3. Set up the module — on the device's web page: Auto-detect, then Initial Setup in rover mode.
  4. Corrections — choose rtkonline.net, mountpoint NEAR, and your rover username and password (step 2 above). Needs a Limited or Full license.
  5. Work — the fix, satellites and your position in local grid coordinates show live; save points when you need them.
All features of the rover software
  • Corrections over NTRIP or TCP from the rtkonline.net caster Limited/Full
  • NTRIP or TCP from any caster Full; serial, e.g. from a radio link Full
  • Fix type (Single, Float, RTK Fixed), satellites, signal levels per constellation and the sky view, live.
  • Local grid coordinates: MGA2020, ETRS89, NAD83, SIRGAS 2000, NZTM2000, QazTRF-23, Pulkovo 1995, and UTM elsewhere.
  • Saved points, listed on the Sites page.
  • NMEA TCP listener for field software Full; NTP time server from GNSS time Full; MQTT publishing.

Try it in the demo

The demo units run this software around the clock with a simulated GNSS module. Log in, look around, change things — the setup is restored automatically.
